Ghabraye Gi Zainab - With English Translation

Ghabraye Gi Zainab (S.A)
Zainab only has misery ahead

Ghabraey Gi Zainab
Zainab only has misery ahead

Bhaiya tumhain ghar ja k
Dear brother, when I return home

Kahan paey gi Zainab
Where will I find you?

Ghabraey Gi Zainab
Zainab only has misery ahead

Kaisa ye bhara ghar hua
How brutally was this House (House of The Prophet SAW) once full of life

barbad Ilahi
destroyed, my God?

Kya aai tabahi
What devastation was brought onto it

Ab iss ko na abaad, Kabhi paey gi Zainab
Now, Zainab will never see this House fully inhabited

Ghabraey Gi Zainab
Zainab only has misery ahead

Ghar Ja ke kisay dekhe gi
When She returns home, who will she see there?

Qasim hain na Abbas
Neither Qasim (AS) nor Abbas (AS) will be there

Akbar se bhi hai aas
She knows it's the same for Akbar (AS)

Apne Ali Asghar ko, Kahan paey gi Zainab
Where will she find Her own Ali Asghar?

Ghabraey Gi Zainab
Zainab only has misery ahead

Poochainge jo sab log
Everybody will be nosy and they will ask

Ke bazu pe hua kya
"What happened to your arms?"

Ye neel hai kesa?
"What are these dark blue scars?"

Kis kis ko nishan rassi ke, Dikhlaey gi Zainab
All the strangers will see the scars from the ropes on Zainab (SA)

Ghabraey Gi Zainab
Zainab only has misery ahead

Phhat jaey ga, Bas dekh ke hi, Ghar ko kaleja
The liver (equivalent to a heart in English poetry the liver is a symbol for the organ that bears hardships) will burst in its place

Yaad aao ge bhaiya
I (Zainab SA) will think of you often my Brother (Hussain AS)

Dil dhoonde ga tum ko
When my heart looks for you

To kahan paey gi Zainab
Where will it find you?

Ghabraey Gi Zainab
Zainab only has misery ahead

Be parda hui
Zainab's hijab was stolen

Qaid bhi khahar ne uthhai
My Sister (Zainab SA) was imprisoned

Aur maut na aai
And her trials are still not over

Kya jaaniye kya kya abhi
Who knows what other

Dukh paey gi Zainab
Hardships Zainab is yet to face

Ghabraey Gi Zainab (S.A)
Zainab only has misery ahead
