Salam khaak nasheeno pa sogwaron ka
Salam from the mourners to those lying on the sand
Ghareeb dete hai pursa tumhare pyaro ka
The poor offer condolences for your loved ones
Salam un pa jinhe sharm khaaye jaati hai
Salam to those to whom Salam goes out of shame
Khule saron pe aseeri ki khaak aati hai
Uncovered heads are showered with the sands of imprisonment
Salam us pa jo zahmat kashe salaasil hai
Salam to the one who bears hardships while being chained
Musibaton may imamat ki pehli manzil hai
The first milestone of Imamat lies within hardships
Salam bhejte hai apni shahzadi par
Salam to the Princess (Zainab SA) to whom we pledge allegiance
Ke jisko sawnp gaye marte waqt ghar sarwar
To whom The King (Hussain AS) handed over the house (of The Prophet SAW)
Musafirat ne jise bebasi ye dikhlayi
Her travels have taken everything from her
Nisar kar diye bache na bach saka bhai
Her children have been sacrificed, nor was her Brother spared
Aseer ho ke jise shaamiyo ke narghay may
The lady who was made a prisoner and was cordoned by Damascenes
Husainiyat hai sikhaana Ali ke lehje may
Ali (AS) taught the character of Hussain (AS) through his way of speaking
Sakina bibi tumhare ghulam haazir hai
Lady Sakina (SA), your servants are here
Bujhe jo pyas to ashkon ke jaam haazir hai
We brought you cups of tears for your thirst
Ye sin, ye hashr ye sadmay naye naye bibi
This age, this doomsday, these calamities are all new
Kahan pa baithi ho qaime to jal gaye bibi
I wonder where are you sitting? All the tents have been burnt
Pahaar raat bari der hai sawere may
The night seems to be mountainous, daybreak is so far away
Kahan ho shaam-e-ghareeban ke ghup andhere may
Where are you in the pitch black darkness of the evening of the exiled and destitute?
Zameen garm, yateemi ki sakhtiyan bibi
The ground is hot (where you are sleeping), these are the hardships of being an orphan
Wo seena jis pa ke soti thi ab kahan bibi
That chest on which you used to sleep (her dad - Hussain AS) is no more
Janaab-e-maadar-e-baysheer ko bhi sab ka salam
Salam to the esteemed mother (Rubab SA) of the infant (Ali Asghar AS)
Ajeeb waqt hai kya dein tasalliyon ka payam
This is a strange time, how can we send comforting messages?
Abhi kaleje may ek aag si lagi hogi
Right now your liver must be on fire (figuratively)
Abhi to godh ki garmi na kam hui hogi
The warmth of the cradle must not have cooled yet
Nahin andhere main kuch soojhta kidhar dhundhen
In the darkness we can’t see anything, where should we search (for your son: Ali Asghar AS)?
Tumhara chaand kahan chhup gaya kidhar dhundhen
Where is your moon (a term of endearment for an infant child) hiding? Where should we search for him?
Na is tarah koi kheti hari bhari ujdi
Never have any offspring been uprooted like this
Tumhari maang bhi ujri hai godh bhi ujdi
Your marriage has been uprooted and your cradle has been as well
Nahi layeeno may insaan koi khuda hafiz
There isn't a single human being amongst the enemies, the enemies deserve to have all of their divine blessings recalled by God, may God keep you The imprisoned family of The Prophet SAW safe
Darinde aur ye be-warisi khuda hafiz
You (imprisoned family of The Prophet SAW) are captives of carnivorous wild animals (the enemies) and you don't have enough heirs to protect you, may God keep you (imprisoned family of The Prophet SAW) safe
Shareek-e-haq darood-o-salam-e-Payghambar
To those rightfully included in the darood and Salam of the Prophet SAW:
Salam sayyid-e-lawlaak ke lute ghar par
Salam to the looted household of the one for whom the universe was created
Salam mohsin-e-islam khasta tan laasho
Salam to the benefactors of Islam, the wound riddled corpses
Salam tum pe shaeedon ke be kafan laasho
Salam to the martyrs lying on the plains of Karbala unburried and without coffins
Salam tum pe rasool-o-batool ke pyaro
Salam to those who are dear to The Prophet SAW and Bibi Fatima SA
Salam mehr-e-shahadat ke gird sayyaro
Salam to the exemplary pinnacles of martyrdom
Bache to agle baras ham hain aur ye gham phir hai
If we remain then next year we will be here to mourn again
Jo chal base to ye apna salaam-e-aakhir hai
The mourners who will depart between this year and the next, send their final Salam
